Тhe exhibition “Tkachev Brothers. Beginning of the Journey”
On March 7, at 17:00, the grand opening of the exhibition “Tkachev Brothers. Beginning of the Journey” from the collections of the Bryansk Regional Art Museum and Exhibition Center and the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus will be held at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus.
The exhibition will run from March 8 to April 28, 2019.
The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, together with the Bryansk Regional Art Museum and Exhibition Center, organizes an exhibition of paintings by the Tkachev brothers, prominent Russian artists of the twentieth century – academicians Sergey Tkachev (born 1922) and Alexey Tkachev (born 1925). The central theme of the artists’ creativity is the Russian village and its inhabitants. The military-patriotic theme, which the artists address throughout their lives, is also represented extencively. The exhibition project is held as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Art Museum.
The Museum of the Tkachev brothers in Bryansk was opened in 1995. It was based on the artists’ works they gifted to the city as a tribute to their native places (the artists come from the Chuchunovka village, Bryansk Region). The museum's collection includes over 800 works of authors, including the works that have become classics of Russian visual art of the second half of the twentieth century. Some of them will be presented at the exhibition in Minsk. The exhibition will also include one art work of the Tkachev brothers, from the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus – painting “Firstborn” (1954). For the first time the Belarusian audience will be able to see such a large body of works by the authors – 38 paintings.
