Тhe International Exhibition Project “Salvador Dalí”
On March 16, 2019 the International Exhibition Project “Salvador Dalí”, organized in cooperation with the investment Company “Galperin and sons”, will open at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The exhibition is held as part of celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus and will feature more than 100 works of sculpture, graphics and jewelry, created by one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century. Also, as part of the exhibition, two monumental sculptures of Salvador Dalí will be temporarily installed in the urban space.
The exhibits are part of the collection “Dalí Universe”, which is considered one of the largest private collections of sculpture and Salvador Dalí artworks. The founder of the collection and the head of Dalí Universe, Beniamino Levi, an Italian art dealer and collector, worked with the famous Spanish artist in the 1960s, when he started his collection, paying particular attention to three-dimensional objects. Today Beniamino Levi is recognized as an expert on Salvador Dalí.
Works from this collection have been presented in more than one hundred prestigious museums and locations around the world to over twelve million people. This unusual collection reveals a little-known aspect of Dalí’s work, allowing sculpture to play a major role in the exhibition.
Salvador Dalí is the most famous surrealist artist. Surrealism is reflected in all areas of his work – painting, sculpture, design, graphics, film and fashion. Dalí applied surrealistic concept to everything he said and did. His courage and rebellious attitude towards art alienated him from others and allowed him to create some of the most famous and recognizable works of the twentieth century. Even thirty years after the death of the master, the influence of his art can be seen almost everywhere in the world.
The name of Dalí is magical, it is the icon of modern art.
