Exhibition “Picturesque Melodies” is dedicated to the 100th birth anniversaries of the People’s Artist of the Republic of Belarus Raisa Kudrevich (1919–2000) and Valiarjana Zholtak (1919–2000).
Raisa Kudrevich and Valiarjana Zholtak are among the most talented representatives of a quite close, but rather significant circle of Belarusian artists of their generation. Their work is rightfully included in the chronicle of the artistic culture of Belarus of the twentieth century.
Raisa Kudrevich realized her talent not only in the field of portrait, landscape and still-life, but mainly in the genre of multi-figure painting, which is considered the most complex and time-consuming type of easel painting. Gift of coloristics, compositional accuracy, bright temperament and constant optimism are the components of her creativity and success.
Valiarjana Zholtak belongs to those artists who can be fully understood through attentive, thoughtful and unhurried contemplation of their works. Her canvases, be it a genre painting, a portrait or a landscape, can tell a lot about their author and the era in which she lived. In the still life genre she managed to translate various ideas related to national identity, to convey the finest states of the human soul in the genre of still life.
The exhibition features about 70 works mainly from the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, as well as from the collections of the National Center for Contemporary Arts and the Belarusian Union of Artists.
