Boris Grebenshchikov "Totems of Zimogors"

The National Art Museum starts its anniversary year with a really bright event! For the first time in Belarus, from January 29 to March 10, personal exhibition of paintings by Boris Grebenshchikov, famous musician and permanent leader of the Aquarium band, will be open in the museum. Since the end of the 1980s, his exhibitions were held in St. Petersburg, Moscow, London and New York. The exhibition in Minsk entitled “Totems of Zimogors” will include over thirty paintings of recent years, some of which will be on display for the first time.

Grebenshchikov's paintings, like his songs, are characterized by the complex imagery, postmodern play with images, naive outsider philosophicity. Particular preference Boris Grebenshchikov gives the landscape genre, in which he in a remarkable manner connects visual and musical substance: colors and plastics of his works acquire recognizable outlines of his melodic lines, diffusing the light and aerial environment and sound.

Viewers will have an opportunity not only to watch B.G., but also to hear, as the exposition will be supported by the instrumental music of the author, created specifically for the museum project.

It is known that Boris Grebenshchikov uses money from the sales of his paintings to record some of his his songs. Therefore, at the end of the exhibition, connoisseurs of his work will be able to purchase their favorite works from the artist.

Partner of the exhibition: Foreign unitary enterprise “British-American Tobacco Trading Company”.
