Uladzimir Slabodchykaw’s solo exhibition Sublimation of the Form
Uladzimir Slabodchykaw first appeared on the Belarusian art scene as a sculptor in the early 1970s. For more than 40 years, the artist has demonstrated his deeply personal position in art. Throughout the years of his work, Uladzimir Slabodchykaw has been engaged in the most diverse sculpture types and genres, from research of national issues to formal experiments. The range of his projects is very impressive and varies from chamber sculptures to large-scale monuments he creates both at home and abroad.
The master has always had an active social position. Slabodchykaw has taught since 1975, in 1989 he became Head of the Department of Sculpture at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. Since 1983, Slabodchykaw has been a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists (in 1988–1989 and 2005–2008 he was the head of the section of sculpture). Today he is a highly respected figure in the field of Belarusian culture. He actively participates in the main strategic decisions of the Union of Artists. In 2011 he was awarded The Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus title. Professor Slabodchykaw is an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts and a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors.
