Photo report. Opening of the exhibition Lieanid Shchamialiow. Paintings, dedicated to the 95th birthday anniversary of the People's Artist of Belarus
On February 5, 2018 the grand opening of Lieanid Shchamialiow’s exhibition was held. The exhibition is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the master, the People's Artist of Belarus, the holder of the Order of Francysk Skaryna, the laureate of the State Prize of Belarus and the Union State Prize.
The exhibition display, which hosts over 50 paintings of the 1960s–2000s from the collections of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Union of Artists and the Minsk History Museum, represents 70 years of Lieanid Shchamialiow’s creative life, his development from a post-war art student to an outstanding master of the 21st century, whose life and destiny serve an example of exceptional human and creative longevity, consistency and dedication to the chosen path.
At the opening ceremony, the guests of the exhibition were greeted by Uladzimir Prakaptsow, Candidate of Arts, Director General of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The guests who addressed the celebrant with a solemn word included Iryna Dryga, the First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus; Tatsiana Filimonava, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Cultural Workers; Siargiej Martynaw, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian statesman and diplomat; graphic artist Rygor Sitnitsa, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Artists, and Ivan Gardziejchyk, Chairman of the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans. In turn, the guest of honor, the People's Artist of Belarus Lieanid Shchamialiow thanked the audience and invited everyone to the exhibition.
Classical piano music played by Uladzislaw Shobik was a special gift to the master and the guests of the evening.
