Opening of the exhibition ‘Oh Sport, You are Peace!’
The exhibition ‘Oh Sport, You are Peace!’ will open in the gallery of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus on April 25, 2014 at 5.00 p.m. The exhibition is dedicated to several bright sporting events this year – the upcoming 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Minsk, coming 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the past XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
The title of the exhibition quotes the ideologist of the Olympic movement Pierre de Coubertin. He viewed life itself through the prism of sports and continuous improvement. The exposition presents paintings, drawings and sculptures by Belarusian artists in the 1950s–2000s from the museum’s collection. They form the five thematic blocks: ‘Winter Games’, ‘Summer Joy’, ‘Freeze!’, ‘Look who’s here!’ and ‘Corner’.
The exhibition will be on display from April 26 to May 15, 2014 and from May 20 to May 26, 2014.
The curator of the exhibition is Anastasia Karneiko, the senior associate of the contemporary Belarusian art department. We express our gratitude to the staff of the research and funds department, exhibition department and information and publishing department, department of scientific and educational work, the museum’s restorers, artist and photographer for their assistance in the preparation of the exhibition!
