Hail from the Shtetl
The exhibition “Hail from the Shtetl” from August, 30 till September, 30.
This exhibition is from the holdings of the museum (about 50 paintings and graphic works). It is dedicated to the anniversaries of famous natives of Belarus, prominent political figures of the State of Israel and the Nobel Peace Prize laureates – the 90th anniversary of Shimon Peres, the ninth and current President of the country, and the 100th anniversary of Menachem Begin (1913–1992), the seventh Prime Minister. Such an exhibition is the first one in the history of the museum. In addition to this exclusivity, the exhibition also provides the audience with unique, little-known works.
The shtetl disappeared under the influence of socio-political upheavals and war events. However, the world of shtetl was around the community. Poets and artists, teachers and doctors, engineers and public figures, as well as other natives of the shtetl culture – humanism, commitment to education and knowledge, resilience, optimism – brought it out into the world.
