The series “Famous Artists from Belarus”
A new album from the series “Famous Artists from Belarus” was presented yesterday, on 28 May, in Minsk, in the inner yard of the museum “House of the Wańkowiczes. Culture and art of the first half of the 19th century”. The new album is dedicated to the work of eminent Belarusian artist-romanticist Walenty Wańkowicz (1800–1842), a contemporary and friend of Adam Mickiewicz. The artist created an entire gallery of portraits including the famous “Portrait of Adam Mickiewicz on Au-Dag rock”. The first presentation of the album took place on 17 May in the master’s home town of Berezyno of Minsk region. Yesterday the artist’s fellow-townsmen visited Minsk. The head of the department for culture of Berezyno district executive committee Galina Sokolovskaya, students and teachers of Berezyno School of arts were invited to the meeting in Minsk by the director of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Prokoptsov. At the sculpture “The Artist’s Morning” by Vladimir Slobodchikov depicting Walenty Wańkowicz there sounded violin and guitar, cymbalo and songs. Music, sculpture and painting wonderfully supplemented each other and created unique artistic atmosphere and left no visitor indifferent.
