Nikolay Pogranovsky Turns 60
The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus congratulates the director of the history and culture memorial museum “Zaslavl” and former chief custodian of our museum on the birthday anniversary.
Researcher of modern Belarusian art, Nikolay Pogranovsky was born on February 21, 1952 in Gomel region. He is a graduate of Aleksey Glebov Minsk Art School, Academy of Arts in Leningrad and Belarusian Arts Academy in Minsk.
Nikolay Pogranovsky joined the BSSR State Art Museum in 1986 when it was actively growing. He worked in departments “House of the Wańkowiczes. Culture and Art of 1st Half of 19th Century” and “19th-Century Estate in Village of Loschitsa”. Both branches revealed exceptional research and management talents of Nikolay Pogranovsky. From 1990 he held a post of the chief custodian of the Art Museum for a decade. Here he was successful in settling serious issues which the museum faced at that age.
Nikolay Pogranovsky proved to be a serious arts specialist. He actively participated in research conferences and was a prolific author of research works. 1990-s saw publication of his albums “Vladimir Slobodchikov”, “Yury Gerasimenko”, “Moderne Belorussische Graphik”, “Ausstelung Graphik” etc.
At present Nikolay Pogranovsky is a reputable specialist in the national museum affairs and art and is respected for his talent and kindness.
