BELARUSIAN ABSTRACTIONISM
This is the first exhibition in the National Art
Museum dedicated to abstract art in Belarus. The exhibition presents works from
1920-s till present days.
Belarusian artists have turned to aesthetics of abstract art since late 1910-s. It opened up new horizons of expressiveness through composition, colour and form. 1980-1990-s were especially active: there was created art free from narrativeness, being down-to-earth, social commitments. Belarusian abstractionism is peculiar not only in colour and form but also in combination of the figurative and the abstract.
The exhibition will be working from May 18th till June 18th.
