The Central Asia is the land of legendary events, of the ancient kingdoms’ high cultures, of famous thinkers and artists, who have left a significant mark in the history of the world. Samarkand, the art of which, performed by its masters, is represented at the exhibition – one of the oldest cities in the Central Asia, the capital of the ancient town Sogdiana (Sogdia), a rich commercial and industrial centre on the “Silk Road”. The origins of many arts and crafts of the city: jewelry, stone carving and woodwork, toreutikh (or caelatura) and embroidery are becoming the things of the history’s depth. Art of ceramics has existed here since the prehistoric times.
