Ancient Tunes of Byzantium and Kievan Rus
November 30, 4 p.m. The National Art Museum hosts the concert-lecture Ancient Tunes of Byzantium and Kievan Rus.
The concert is given by Artos Belarusian choir singing in Byzantine style (the leader is Pavel Gontsa) and the Niabesny Zvon band specializing on the old Belarusian singing (the leader is Lubov Shpakovskaya). The concert-lecture is dedicated to the ancient singing traditions of the Orthodox Church. The programme includes the Greek-Byzantine, Bulgarian and Serbian chants, as well as the unique chants from Belarusian songbooks of XVI – XVII cc.
