PROVISIONS OF THE OPEN CONTEST

“DESIGN OF THE ENTRANCE TICKET–2012

TO THE NATIONAL ART MUSEUM OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS”

 

The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (Organizer) with the support of the General partner The foreign private enterprise “British American Tobacco Trading Company” holds the open public contest “Design of the Entrance Ticket–2012 to the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus”.

The contest participants: designers, artists, students, everyone who has attained 18 years of age.

The contest works are accepted from March, 7 till April 19, 2012 on 20, Lenin str., room 5, by junior research assistant Anastasia Karneiko.

Form and procedure of the works submission: a paper copy of the ticket project printed in color and an electronic project version in JPG format (obligatorily) and in one of the three following formats at option: PSD, CDR (in 13th or earlier version) or AI are submitted to the Organizer.

The abovementioned materials are submitted in the envelope with the contest name indicated by the contest participant in person. While submitting the materials, the participant fills out the application form offered by the Organizer. Passport data, permanent address, contact telephone number and email are indicated in the application form among other things.

The projects of the contest participants will be added to the Museum’s website www.artmuseum.by.

Criteria for evaluation of works:

  • originality and novelty;
  • artistic value;
  • compliance with the contest aims;
  • compliance with ethical norms.

Requirements to the ticket design:

The entrance ticket to the National Art Museum has to be a small work of graphic arts consisting of image-bearing and informative parts. The right ticket side has to depict a memorable laconic image of the museum (photographic and graphic images of the building, its interior, works from the permanent museum exhibition etc are allowed) with the full name of the Museum – typed composition “National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus” (and its logo) in the Belarusian and English languages and the logo of the Museum’s General partner The foreign private enterprise “British American Tobacco Trading Company”. The right ticket side should also have information on the public hours of the Museum, the contact telephone and the address.

The contest participants can receive the logo of the National Art Museum and the logo of The foreign private enterprise “British American Tobacco Trading Company” in CDR format upon request to email nmmrb_anad@bk.ru.

The ticket dimensions are 70 x 140 mm with 20 mm-wide control line (the word “control” has to be written in the Belarusian and English languages) at the right (perforation line is compulsory) with signs in the Belarusian and English languages.

The reverse ticket side is to have information on the Museum’s branches with their addresses and contact telephones. All the variable information part will be typed in black on the cash register computer by a museum’s employee. Thus, the reverse ticket side has to be lighter than the right side.

Prizes and procedure of evaluation of the work results

The Organizer will award two prizes: Top Prize and People’s Choice Award.

Top Prize: 3,500,000 Belarusian rubles. The works will be evaluated from April 23 to April 27, 2012. The Top Prize winner will be determined by the jury members who will evaluate every work separately under the ten-grade system. The contest participant whose work obtained the highest score will become the winner. In case the highest score will be obtained by several contest participants the winner will be determined by an open majority vote of the jury. In case the number of the votes is equal the chairperson will have the casting voice.

People’s Choice Award: 1,300,000 Belarusian rubles. From April 23 till April 29, 2012 works of all the contest participants will be specially exhibited in the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (on 20, Lenin str.). Every exhibition visitor may vote for the People’s Choice Award. To vote, the exhibition visitor should put his/her check-supplement to the ticket with the number of the work he/she liked most into the ballot box. The contest participant whose work obtained the highest score will be the winner. In case the highest score will be obtained by several contest participants the prize will be equally divided between them.

Date and way of announcement of the contest results:

At 17.00 on May 2, 2012 the museum will hold a press-conference where the contest results will be announced by the jury. Both contest participants and other persons including mass media representatives may attend the press-conference. The winners will be directly announced about the contest results by representatives of the Organizer.

Votes’ Counting:

The counting board for voting results of the open public contest “Design of the Entrance Ticket – 2012 to the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus” acting under the order of the director of the institution “National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus” counts the votes from April 27 till May 1, 2012.

The decision on the election of the winners is registered in the meeting record of the counting board for voting results of the open public contest “Design of the Entrance Ticket – 2012 to the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus”.

Procedure of delivery of prizes:

Based upon the meeting record of the counting board for voting results of the open public contest “Design of the Entrance Ticket – 2012 to the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus”, the Organizer issues an order on payment of the prize to the winners of the open public contest “Design of the Entrance Ticket – 2012 to the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus”.

The prizes are paid by the contest Organizer via cash award transfer to the winner’s account on the basis of the order on payment of the prize to the winners of the open public contest “Design of the Entrance Ticket – 2012 to the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus”.

Additional contest conditions:

  • works which did not win the prize are not returned to the contest participants;
  • the winner has to professionally prepare the file for offset printing;
  • the ticket of the selected design will be valid during the period necessary for sale of the print;
  • during the contest period the contest participants are allowed to take photographs of the museum’s interior and permanent exhibition paintings for free.
