Nadezhda Mikhaylovna Usova was born in Gomel. In 1981 she graduated from the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin in Leningrad (History and Theory of Arts Department). Studied under the well- known Leningrad art critics: R.Vlasova, V.Razdolskaya, V.Lenyashin, N.Punin.
Since 1981 she lives in Minsk. Nadezhda works in the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus for 25 years, having begun as scientific employee of the department of travelling exhibition, then was the keeper of the funds of the Russian and foreign graphic arts, manager of the methodological sector of the department of scientific and educational work.
Since October, 10th, 2003 she is the deputy director for scientific work.
In 1993 took postgraduate course at the Institute of Study of Art Criticism, Folklore and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus.

Scientific interests:
Hobby: art life of Minsk of the early 20th century. She is the author of some articles on this topic, first of all about little-known artists of that time: Zenon Lensky, Ignaty Vrublevsky, Yaroslav Tyshinsky, Ignaty Yaremenko, and Jacob Kruger.
One of her favourite theme (except art of Belarus of the 19th – 20th centuries and art of the Belarusian-Polish-Lithuanian frontier) is the history of the National Art Museum.
Initiator of exhibitions:
1. “S.Palees is an Expert on the Belarusian and Jewish Cultures”.
2. Arcady Astapovich and Zinaida Astapovich-Bocharova. To the 100th birthday anniversary of the artists.
3. Jacob Kruger (1868-1940). To the 130th birthday anniversary of the artist.
2. “The First Director”, dedicated to the first director of the museum N.Miholap (1886-1979).
3. "Architect Mikhail Baklanov" to the 90th anniversary of the architect of the museum Mikhail Baklanov (1914-1990).

Curator of projects:
• Exhibitions “Masterpieces of the National Art Museum” in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the scientific editor of the catalogue of this exhibition.
• “National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. Electronic Catalogue of Constant Exhibition.” (Russian and English versions).
• Album “Art of the late 15th – early 20th centuries” from the project “National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus” (Volume 1-2).
